Night Moves Left the Amphitheater This Year. Here's Where Downtown's Foo Foo Nights Go Instead

For the past two Novembers, Night Moves Music Fest was one long Saturday at Hunter Amphitheater in Community Maritime Park. In 2026 there is no single Saturday. The festival is now a set of separately ticketed shows running from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8. The center of it has moved from the waterfront lawn at 301 W Main St. to a stretch of North Tarragona Street.

That change matters more than a lineup announcement usually does. Night Moves used to come at the end of the Pensacola Foo Foo Festival as its own event, a full day of music after the arts program had mostly played out. This year the music is spread across the same ten days as the Saenger nights, the Gordon's run and the installations on Palafox. If you live downtown, the festival is now spread across many evenings and close to home, instead of being one day you plan around.

What the old format looked like

The details of the last two years are worth setting out, because the new schedule only makes sense next to them.

Year Format Where Headliners
2024 All-day festival, Nov. 9 Hunter Amphitheater, 301 W Main St. Silversun Pickups, Alvvays, Beach Fossils
2025 One-day festival, Nov. 8 Hunter Amphitheater, 301 W Main St. Japanese Breakfast, Dashboard Confessional, Joyce Manor
2026 Multi-day, multi-venue, Oct. 30 to Nov. 8 The Handlebar, The Handlebar Outdoors, Odd Colony, Betty's, Laguna's on Pensacola Beach Motion City Soundtrack, with Colony House, Neal Francis, Sidequest, Copeland, AJJ

The amphitheater years were not purely one-day affairs either. The 2024 listing includes a Handlebar pre-show the Friday before and a Handlebar "Night on the Tracks" show the Sunday after. In those years the club shows came before and after the main event. In 2026 the club shows are the main event.

Why the organizers spread it out

The Foo Foo Festival's Sept. 15 feature quotes the Night Moves founder, who also runs The Handlebar. "This year is slightly different," he said. "It's still a music festival, just in a different way than years' past." The idea is to let the festival "move throughout the city," with individual tickets for each show and some shows earlier in the week, others later.

He gave the reason directly too. "This format really creates cohesion with other Foo Foo Festival events, and that was a big reason we decided to do it this way this year."

That "cohesion" shows up on the calendar as overlap. Here is what the rest of Foo Foo is putting downtown during the same stretch, according to the festival's Aug. 11 grant announcement:

  • Lightspill, a temporary installation of cascading mirrored spheres from Friends of Downtown, on the historic Artel Gallery building, Oct. 29 to Nov. 9.
  • Science on the Street from Pensacola MESS Hall, with Sound Booth sessions and hands-on sound installations along Palafox Street, Oct. 30 to Nov. 9.
  • SIDE SHOW, the Bill Russell and Henry Krieger musical, staged by PenArts for the first time in Pensacola as an immersive, circus-style production at The Gordon, 306 N. DeVilliers St., Oct. 30 to Nov. 8.
  • Three Saenger Theatre nights: Pensacola State College's live demonstration and panel with Ai-Da, a robot artist, on Nov. 3; Pensacola Opera's Rock the Runway: Living Art on Nov. 4; and the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra's Mozart & Bizet on Nov. 7.

Line those dates up against the Night Moves shows and the music fills the gaps between them.

The ten days, in order

Below is every dated Night Moves show confirmed as of Oct. 7, with the other downtown Foo Foo events placed around it. Prices are face value from the festival's Eventim ticket listings. Service fees are added at checkout, and prices can change.

  1. Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Oct. 30. 309 Punk Project brings back HalloZine Fest, two days of zine workshops, exhibitions, film and live performances. Lightspill goes up at Artel on the 29th, and the MESS Hall installations start on Palafox on the 30th.
  2. Saturday, Oct. 31. Nuovo Testamento, a California post-punk group, plays a Halloween show at The Handlebar, 319 N. Tarragona St. Doors and show are both at 6 p.m., with general admission at $25 face value. The same night, Sidequest plays at 8 p.m. at Laguna's Beach Bar + Grill, 460 Pensacola Beach Blvd. That show is 18 and over, $40 face value.
  3. Sunday, Nov. 1. Neal Francis plays at Laguna's with the Sam Fribush Trio. Doors are at 6:30 p.m., the show starts at 7:30 p.m., and general admission is $27.50 face value. Ballet Pensacola's Carnival of the Animals, made with the Pensacola Humane Society, runs Nov. 1 to 3.
  4. Monday, Nov. 2. The Night Moves series page lists an 8 p.m. show at The Handlebar.
  5. Tuesday, Nov. 3 to Thursday, Nov. 5. This is the Saenger stretch. Ai-Da is there on the 3rd and Rock the Runway on the 4th. The Pensacola Museum of Art opens STEAM2026: Exploring Wonder on the 3rd with a performance by Nathalie Miebach and a Pensacola Symphony string quartet that interprets weather data. On the 5th, Fiesta Pensacola turns the Pensacola Museum of History into Living Museum, a costumed, first-person history of the city's 467 years.
  6. Saturday, Nov. 7. This is what remains of the old single-day format. The organizers describe a "block-party style event near The Handlebar." The ticket listing places it at The Handlebar Outdoors, with doors and music running from 3 to 11 p.m. Motion City Soundtrack headlines, joined by Colony House, Copeland, Lucky, Scream Out Loud, Safety Training, Tirra Lirra and Lasent. General admission is $39.50 face value and VIP is $70.
  7. Sunday, Nov. 8. AJJ, with Greet Death, closes the festival at The Handlebar. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m., with general admission at $27 face value. SIDE SHOW also ends its run at The Gordon that day.

For a sense of scale, the 2024 amphitheater day sold general admission at $49.99 and VIP at $199.99. This year's Nov. 7 block party, the closest thing to that day, lists $39.50 and $70 at face value, before fees. Even so, the two prices don't compare evenly: the 2026 Saturday is one show among several, while the 2024 Saturday was the whole festival.

Saturday, Nov. 7 is the crowded day

The old format put all the music on one Saturday. This year's Saturday puts three events downtown that each take up a large part of the day.

The Handlebar Outdoors block party runs from mid-afternoon to 11 p.m. The Pensacola Museum of Art holds the free public day of its STEAM series the same Saturday, with hands-on activities, exhibitions and some paid workshops led by artists from the triennial. That evening the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra plays Mozart & Bizet at the Saenger. Music Director Peter Rubardt conducts and pianist Carter Johnson is the soloist. An open dress rehearsal is scheduled earlier in the day.

These events draw different crowds, and the earlier dress rehearsal makes it easy to do more than one. You could see a family-friendly symphony rehearsal and the museum's free programming before the block party reaches its headliner.

Sunday the 8th is busy too, outside the festival. The Soul Bowl was moved from Oct. 3 to Nov. 8 because of the weather forecast. Its 34th edition is six age-division games between the SYSA Tigers and the Bellview Packers at Blue Wahoos Stadium, the same day AJJ closes Night Moves a few blocks away.

Two venues still waiting on dates

Two downtown names on the Night Moves venue list don't have a dated show yet. Odd Colony Brewing Co., at 260 N. Palafox St., is named in both the Sept. 18 lineup release and the festival's current event page. Betty's on Belmont, at 506 W. Belmont St. in the former Chizuko space, appears on the current Night Moves event page as well. The festival has said more shows and venues will be announced.

More may still appear on the wider calendar. Foo Foo's "Friends of Foo" program let local nonprofits, venues, restaurants, bars and hotels submit their own events for the Oct. 29 to Nov. 9 window, and submissions closed Oct. 1. Any approved events from that round will land on the same nights as everything listed above.

The sources don't agree on one date. The festival's own event page starts Night Moves on Oct. 29, while the September lineup release starts it on Oct. 30. No dated Night Moves show yet falls on the 29th, so the first confirmed music is the Halloween double bill on Oct. 31.

The amphitheater format made Night Moves easy to plan around: one date, one gate. This year the festival is a set of separate evenings. The early-week Handlebar show, the Saenger run and the Sunday finale on Tarragona are the parts that sit within walking distance for downtown households.
